Blame It on the Blaaaaack Staarrrr…

Saturday, January 27, 4-7pm. Mark it, dude. We’ll invite in Black Star Co-Op to tap two variations of their Dockhand Series porter: one with Barrett’s coffee, and one on nitro with SRSLY Chocolate. We’ll be offering a special flight: a 5oz pour of each and a shot of Barrett’s espresso (the same used in the beer), and some chocolate for $10. What a deal! We’ll also offer normal pours of the beer, too, sillies.

Also, you’ll have two chances to catch ex-Lamar GM and current Full Clip rep Tim Vela as he samples a lineup the distributor’s beers. First up, tonight at Lamar, he’ll sample some of HopFusion’s tasty brews: Go Easy, Fur Slipper, Feisty Blonde, and Hairpin Rye. Then, Friday at Mueller, we’ll sample Roughtail’s fantastic IPA on tap, Everything Rhymes with Orange, along with Hoptometrist, Pale Ale, and maybe another.

And to let people know, WhichCraft Mueller will be closing early at 4:30 on Sunday, January 28, for a special event, so plan your day drinking accordingly.

New Beers This Week

(All beer available at both WhichCraft locations unless otherwise noted)

Back in Stock: Prairie Pirate Noir (Lamar)

Adelbert’s Travelin’ Man – A “new school intercontinental IPA.” This beer is a soft, juicy, flavor bomb of an IPA with an amalgamation of tastes and aromas spanning the hop rainbow. It’s a fresh beer that should be consumed quickly, but can continue to evolve in the package for months due to massive dry hopping and biotransformations. 6.2% ABV / Austin, TX / Availability: Good

Cigar City Jai Alai – Pours copper in color with notes of citrus and tropical fruit in the aroma. Flavor has upfront citrus bitterness with a hint of caramel and citrus and tropical fruit hop notes in the finish. 7.5% ABV / Tampa, FL / RateBeer 99 / Availability: Limited

Cigar City Guayabera – With notes of tangerine, lime, and berries, the exclusive use of Citra hops in this beer creates a flavor that’s at once unique and recognizable, while its dry, crisp character and moderate alcohol make it as refreshing and functional as a crisp linen guayabera. 5.5% ABV / Tampa, FL / RateBeer 95 / Availability: Limited

Cigar City Tampa-Style Lager – This Tampa-style Lager is inspired by the traditional German-style Helles, which translates to “light colored.” Perfect for the Florida (or Texas) heat, it’s a beer that’s made for drinkin’ when it’s truly hotter than helles outside. 4.5% ABV / Tampa, FL / Availability: Decent

Bell’s Hopslam – Starting with six different hop varietals added to the brew kettle & culminating with a massive dry-hop addition of Simcoe hops, Bell’s Hopslam Ale possesses the most complex hopping schedule in the Bell’s repetoire. Selected specifically because of their aromatic qualities, these Pacific Northwest varieties contribute a pungent blend of grapefruit, stone fruit, and floral notes. A generous malt bill and a solid dollop of honey provide just enough body to keep the balance in check, resulting in a remarkably drinkable rendition of the Double India Pale Ale style. 10% ABV / Galesburg, MI / RateBeer 100 / Availability: Limited

Clown Shoes Once Upon a Time in the Far East – Imperial stout brewed with cold-brewed Vietnamese coffee. 14% ABV / Ipswich, MA / Availability: Limited

Firestone Walker Leo v. Ursus #4: Wookus – An imperial black rye IPA that is wickedly hoppy, righteously spicy, and fearsome in flavor. While exhibiting DNA from its Wookey Jack ancestry, Wookus offers next-generation attitude with amplified hop aromatics and a bit of rebellious dankness. The result is a beer that blends the familiar with the ferocious. 8.2% ABV / Paso Robles, CA / RateBeer 92 / Availability: Decent

Champion Fruitbasket A DIPA-strength west coast IPA hopped exclusively with Mosaic hop. Known for its fruity, earthly, and herbal notes, this hop dancers with the peel and juices of blood oranges and red grapefruits. 8% ABV / Charlottesville, VA / RateBeer 95 / Availability: Decent

Left Hand Well Played Red IPA – Experimental hops and specialty malts compose a beer that is sweet up front with robust hop character and a dry finish. 6.8% ABV / Longmont, CO / Availability: Good / SoLa Only

New Beers on Draft at WhichCraft Taproom

Full Draft List Available on our Website

Freetail La Muerta Whiskey Port Cask Finished – Freetail has made La Muerta, a slightly smoky Imperial Stout, the last few years to honor Dia De Los Muertos.  They’ve also been doing some killer barrel treatments and adjunct versions of the beer.  This one was aged in whiskey barrels and then finished for several months in port casks, giving it a round almost sweet wine flavor to go along with the roast and smoke forward base beer. 9.9% ABV / San Antonio, TX

Buffalo Bayou Y’alloha – This subtly sweet and tart Blonde Ale brewed with mango, pineapple, and passion fruit is their answer for those 70 degree Texas winter days us drinkers want to enjoy on the patio in our shorts, daydreaming of getting lei’d. 5.2% ABV / Houston, TX

Bell’s Amber Ale – The beer that helped build their brewery; Bell’s Amber Ale features both toasted and sweet caramel notes from carefully selected malts, balanced with herbal and citrus hop aromas. Capped by a clean bitterness, it’s incredibly versatile with food, but very tasty on its own. 5.8% ABV / Galesburg, MI

Blue Owl Lord Admiral Gravitas – Sour Imperial Oatmeal Stout aged in Brimstone Balcones barrels. 9% ABV / Austin, TX

Hi Sign Max Stout – A dark, richly roasted deep stout, with chocolate aromas. 6.6% ABV / Austin, TX

Epic Triple Barrel Big Bad Baptista – Imperial Stout aged in whiskey & rum barrels with cacao nibs, barrel-aged coffee beans and barrel-aged coconut added. 11.4% ABV / Salt Lake City, UT / RateBeer 100

Southern Heights Dave’s Not Here IPA – American IPA, light body with tons of hop aroma. 7% ABV / Austin, TX
