It’s Bourbon County Week! Pick it up on Saturday During Our Cellar Release Event. Happy Thanksgiving. :)

We’ll be celebrating Small Business Saturday this Saturday at 12 noon when we’ll be releasing our allocation of Goose Island Bourbon County Stout. We’ll also be pulling a bunch of random stuff out of our cellar in the store, so get a chance to buy some great beers that have been released in previous months/years! To include (but not limited to): Firestone Walker, Prairie, Mikkeller, Odell, Founders, Boulevard, Deschutes, Dogfish Head & many others. Don’t miss it!

The polls are now open for this year’s Austin Beer Guide Best Of Readers’ poll, so we encourage you to cast your votes for all of your favorite things from the Austin beer world this year. Voting takes place here. The issue release party will be Thursday, December 17th at ABGB and is open to the public! We would certainly be honored to received your vote for the Best Bottle Shop category. 🙂

New Beers This Week

Back in stock: BFM Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien 2014 (750mL), Deschutes Fresh Squeezed.

New holiday gift packs in stock: Robinson’s Trooper (2 beers, glass & t-shirt), Ommegang (750 mLs of Hennepin, Three Philosophers and State of Indulgence stout plus a glass).

Odell Piña Agria – A sour pineapple beer aged for 9 months with pineapple, lactobacillus, & brettanomyces. Bright tropical aromas of fruit and melon with a subtle sweet malt and pineapple backdrop. 6.5% ABV/Fort Collins, CO/Ratebeer 95/Availability: decent

BFM Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien Grand Cru (Vin Jaune barrels) – The always outstanding BFM Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien is a biere de garde that ages in oak barrels. For the Grand Cru annual release, Jerome the head brewer then chooses very limited and special casks of a spirit or wine to then age further. This time it was Vin Jaune, which is essentially a French dry sherry wine. 11% ABV/Switzerland/No ratings for this vintage/Availability: very limited

Lone Pint Po-Cha-N-Quar-Hip III Braggot – We’ve never had many braggots available for purchase here at WhichCraft, but in the last 2 weeks two different ones from TX breweries have been released. They are ale-honey wine hybrids dating back to the middle ages or even later. Bright orange-yellow color with a hoppy apricot and honey scented white head; robust wildflower honey and apricot flavor, followed by clean hop bitterness, finishing with light herbally sweetness. 6% ABV/Magnolia, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: decent

Independence Ten Barleywine – Recently Indy celebrated their eleventh anniversary, but due to the recent brewery expansion they decided to keep their 11th Anniversary ale as just a taproom-only draft release. So they dug back in time and brewed last year’s popular anniversary beer to release again. It’s a huge, hoppy American-style barleywine that comes in singles and 4 packs and drinks almost like a triple IPA. 9.8% ABV/Austin, TX/No ratings/Availability: decent

Upslope Christmas – A lightly spiced English old ale that is caramel colored and malty sweet. Second generation to the traditional Winter Warmer, allspice, orange peel and ginger round out the piney aroma of crushed juniper berries. 8.2% ABV/Boulder, CO/Beer Advocate 84/Availability: plenty

Delirium Noel – The annual holiday Belgian-style release from Delirium is a big rich quadrupel with some holiday spices added. A Christmas classic. 10% ABV/Melle, Belgium/Ratebeer 95/Availability: decent

Circle Devil’s Envy – Last year Circle’s Devil’s Envy was quite popular so we’re happy to see it come back this year. They take their Envy amber ale and age it in bourbon barrels for a familiar whisky bite. At only 4.8% this is like whisky soda. 4.8% ABV/Austin, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: plenty

Alpine Duet – Alpine’s original 100 rated IPA that put them on the map in the hoppy beer world. A blend of Simcoe and Amarillo make for hoppy goodness. 7% ABV/Alpine, CA/Ratebeer 100/Availability: plenty

Hops & Grain Greenhouse #35 – It’s baaaaaack. New Zealand Wakatu and Green Bullet hops. 7.7% ABV/Austin, TX/Availability: plehty

Prairie Christmas Bomb – Prairie’s famed stout Bomb gets the Christmas spice treatment with some cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla and other spices that pair up well with the coffee, cocoa and chiles. Rich and awesome. No limit!! 11% ABV/Tulsa, OK/Ratebeer 98/Availability: plenty, no limit
