National Beer Day Is upon Us!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. No, really, baseball is in full swing, the weather has been beautiful, and this week we celebrate two big holidays. First, on April 7, it’s National Beer Day! As if you needed an excuse, now you have one. Let’s all raise a glass to the reason you’re reading this, why we’re almost celebrating our third anniversary, and to the cause of – and solution to – all of life’s problems. Then, on Saturday, it’s National Saison Day. After a long day of tilling and toiling in the field, might we suggest Lakewood Brewing’s Till & Toil? Or perhaps Brooklyn’s Sorachi Ace, or the nigh-perfect Saison Dupont? Or all three! You can’t go wrong celebrating this classic farmhouse style.

Voting is still underway for the AIBA Armadillo Awards, which means there’s still time to vote for WhichCraft Tap Room in the Austin Customer Experience Category. To even be nominated is amazing among other stellar local businesses…but you should still vote for us, and all the other nominees here.

And we’re excited to have Deep Ellum Brewing as our Brewery of the Month. This Dallas brewery puts out some fantastic beers, and we’re offering their IPA, Easy Peasy IPA, and Dallas Blonde, at $6.99/6pk all month long.

And finally, WhichCraft Mueller will be hosting a Beer & Cheese pairing Tuesday, April 18, courtesy of Global Beer Network. Along with Petrus 50/50 and Bavik Super Pils on draft, we’ll also offer Gulden Draak, Wittekerke Wild, and one other special beer in package. We’ll have five artisan cheeses to go with each beer. This will take place 7:00-8:30pm; more information can be found here.

Save the World Bonus Pastor w/ Cherries – A scotch ale that puts a Belgian spin on the traditional “wee heavy.” This medium-bodied ale starts with rich malt and caramel, rounds with hints of nut and dried fruit, and ends with a clean and medium-dry finish. Then taking sour cherries, they aged them in brandy, and then added them to their Bonus Pastor resulting in this delectable beer. It starts with a richly effervescent delicious cherry nose, then your palate is greeted with a wonderful balance of caramel, toffee, and roast molasses, and finally a slightly sweet, lingering cherry warmth finishes out the experience. A lively, medium-body sipper. 7.1% ABV / Marble Falls, TX

Save the World Froctum Bonum w/ Passion Fruit – A refreshing example of the traditional farmhouse ale brewed with passion fruit. The distinctive aroma and flavors are of sweet malts, zesty citrus, passion fruit, and peppery spices with a hint of earthiness. It has a medium body and a crisp, dry finish. Live Oak Gold – Live Oak Gold is inspired by the pale lager that is the daily drinking beer of the Bavarian people. This is a crisp, bright lager that showcases soft malt flavors and is spiced with fine noble hops of the Hallertau region. Slow, cold fermentation and lengthy secondary conditioning produce a beer that is brilliant and beautiful. Please enjoy this beautiful artifact of a culture that places enjoyment of this fine lager bier at the center of polite society. 4.8% ABV / Austin, TX

The Bruery Or Xata – Horchata is a traditional, sweet, milky drink originating in Spain and Latin America that has become quite popular in Southern California, particularly with Mexican cuisine. Our homage to the traditionally non-alcoholic drink is a blonde ale brewed with a heavy dosing of rice, cinnamon, and fresh vanilla beans along with lactose for a little extra creamy character. These ingredients meld together to create a taste and experience that hints at horchata, but it’s much more than that. The flavor is hard to describe, but for those who know it, you know you love it.

Whitestone Cedrela – Named after the genus of several species in the mahogany family, Spanish Cedar being one, this beer will get your attention. One of their most proud creations, this gem will display white pepper and grapefruit notes after being aged on Spanish Cedar in the fermenter. Crisp and refreshing makes for a perfect warm weather beer. 5% ABV / Cedar Park, TX

It is a daughter of Simcoe (YCR 14), one of our favorite hops. Whole cone Mosaic is used for bittering, flavoring, and aroma in the kettle; it is also massively dry-hopped. The beer is named after a Texas heroine. Tasting notes: chalk-white head with a very clean malt backbone. The hops impart strong grapefruit, pineapple, and blueberry flavor and aroma. A strong beer that is extremely quaffable. 6.8% ABV / Magnolia, TX / RateBeer 98

Please enjoy these carefully chosen varieties, fresh-picked and brewed with the American hop connoisseur in mind. 6% ABV / Austin, TX
