Save the World continues to release stellar true-to-style Belgian bottle conditioned ales.  Taste them all for free in addition to one or two future release goodies!  We also bought some very nice glassware from them we’ll have for sale as well.

Wednesday, November 5th

Flood Distribution Co from right here in Austin is less than a year old but has already helped bring fantastic breweries into Texas that we hadn’t had access to before.  Breweries like De Ranke from Belgium, Mikkeller, To Ol and Jolly Pumpkin from Michigan.  Join representative Larkin Griffin as he samples out a selection of Flood beers & perhaps even a mead!

New Beers This Week

Back in stock!  Odell 180 Shilling, Odell Myrcenary Double IPA, Stone Xocoveza Mocha Stout, Stone Lucky Bastard, Founders Dark Penance, Founders Breakfast Stout, Hops & Grain Porter Culture (arriving Friday), Great Divide Yeti 4 packs & Sierra Nevada Celebration Wet Hop IPA.

Jester King Mad Meg* – Mad Meg is a dry, unspiced, highly attenuated Provision Ale unique to our land in the Texas Hill Country. Naturally occurring wild yeasts impart a sense of place to this unfiltered, unpasteurized, 100% naturally conditioned beer.  “Provision Ale” is a rough translation of the French term “bière de provision,” which was sometimes used to describe special beers that were suitable for extended storage and aging.  8.9% ABV/Austin, TX/Ratebeer 94  *Arriving Friday

De Ranke Noel* – De Ranke is one of the best Belgian breweries we can get in Texas right now.  A fantastic Christmas beer, but one that defies the universal custom of a stronger, spicier beer for the holiday season. It is a fine balance of malt and hops, complex character, a refreshing dryness, and a gorgeous cellar aroma – but is distinguished by its festive copper color.  7% ABV/Dottignies, Belgium/Ratebeer 90  *Arriving Friday

To Ol By Udder Means* – When To Ol wanted to make a milk stout, they wanted to make one that had a thick mouth feel and still a low alcohol percentage. This was obtained this by adding a solid amount of lactose in the beer. The yeast strain used is not capable of fermenting lactose, so when the beer stops fermenting all lactose still remains in the beer.  7% ABV/Copenhagen, Denmark/Beer Advocate 98  *Arriving Friday

Mikkeller Monk’s Brew* – Monk’s Elixir is a heavy dark Belgian ale inspired by the Trappist monasteries of Rochefort and Westvleteren. The beer style, characterized by its high content of alcohol, distinguishes itself by its dominant yeast character, delicious malt background and balanced hop notes.  10% ABV/Copenhagen, Denmark/Ratebeer 98  *Arriving Friday

SanTan Sex Panther Double Chocolate Porter – Sex Panther Double Chocolate Porter is a winter seasonal that is brewed with Colonial Rosewood Cocoa and large amounts of chocolate malt giving this beer a huge chocolaty flavor combined with hints of truffle and molasses.  6.9% ABV/Chandler, AZ/Beer Advocate 81

Deschutes Black Butte Anniversary XXVI – Deliciousness in a bottle. This imperial porter was aged in bourbon barrels and dry spiced with Theo Chocolate’s cocoa nibs, revealing hints of vanilla and chocolate. Pomegranate molasses and Oregon cranberries complement the robust flavor with a hint of fruits and just enough tart to make you smile. 10.8% ABV/Bend, OR/Ratebeer 99

Rogue Yellow Snow IPA Pale golden in color with a hoppy fruity aroma. Big hop flavor up front complemented by medium body and hoppiness mid-pallet. It finishes with a characteristic, lingering bitterness.  6.2% ABV/Newport, OR/Ratebeer 96

Great Divide Hibernation – English-style Old Ale. Hibernation Ale is Colorado’s original strong ale — it has been Great Divide’s winter seasonal each year since 1995. Hibernation’s massive flavors are so intense that it requires over three months of aging each year. This lengthy aging process gives Hibernation its revered malty richness, complex hop profile and hearty warming character, which is perfect right out of the bottle or cellared for longer periods of time.  8.7% ABV/Denver, CO/Ratebeer 98

Rahr & Sons Visionary Pumpkin Ale – The latest in the Rahr Visionary series, this pumpkin ale is hazy deep gold with fine white bubbles. Nose of rich pumpkin, rum, spices, and brown sugar. Very similar to a pumpkin pie. Taste is also excellent, with pumpkin mash, spices, cinnamon and nutmeg notes.  8.7% ABV/Fort Worth, TX/Beer Advocate 84

Meridian Hive Meadery Haven – Local meadery Meridian Hive’s latest release is a ginger & peach juice sparkling mead.  Nice honey flavor but still a nice spicy ginger flavor to it as well.  6.8% ABV/Austin, TX/No ratings

New Belgium Accumulation –Mosaic and Amarillo hops bring soft fruit and citrus flavor, followed by a layer of bitter. Piled high in IBUs, Accumulation will make your winter brighter.  6.2% ABV/Fort Collins, CO/Ratebeer 83

New Braunfels Les Fleurs du Mal – Les Fleurs Du Mal is a hot-fermented sour hefeweizen aged for 4 months on lemongrass and bottle-condiditoned with TX wildflower honey. Very sour, tart acidity and vinegar with a smooth drinkability. Very complex and will continue to develop in the bottle.  5.74% ABV/New Braunfels, TX
