Join Us at the Art of the Brew on Saturday, September 3rd!

On Saturday, September 3rd we’re very excited to be a part of the Art of the Brew beer and art festival for the second year in a row. We attend a lot of beer festivals that are lots of fun, but this is without a doubt the most unique one. Dozens of local artists are paired up with Texas breweries who collaborate on a beer and a piece of art. The event is FREE to attend, though it is a fundraiser for Co-Lab Projects so donations are encouraged.

For our donation to the event, we’re actually setting up and running a DUNK TANK. You can dunk our owner Jody Reyes as well as a whole bunch of other artists, brewers and all around ruffians. The dunk tank will run from 4-8pm. There will be free beer, live music (including local rockers A Giant Dog as the headliner!), plenty of art to view and food trucks. Don’t miss this one of a kind event! More details can be found here

This weekend only! Buy a Cans-and-Tans mixed 6 pack. Celebrate saying farewell to summer time with this mixed canned 6 pack which also includes a free pair of WhichCraft sunglasses.

Thursday, September 1st

Revolver Brewing has been in the news recently (google it), but that shouldn’t over shadow their new seasonal release called Red Shift. It’s a red ale with cinnamon, ginger, white pepper, and finished with rose and hibiscus. We’ll also sample Ironhead, Sidewinder and Bock.

New Beers This Week

Back in stock: Odell Piña Agria, 4th Tap Long Walk, 4th Tap Renewal, Community Yessir! Pale ale, Independence Redbud Cucumber.

Lakewood Lion’s Share IV* – Lakewood’s anniversary each year sees a different release under the name Lion’s Share, even though the beer changes each time. This one will be a Belgian-style Quad aged 4 months in brandy barrels. It’s big, boozy, and complex, with almost wine-like aromas and a rich, malty backbone. Contains caramel flavors and notes of dried cherries, figs, dates, and raisins. 12.4% ABV/Garland, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: limited/*Arriving Friday

Abita Peach Lager* – Fresh Louisiana peaches are handpicked for this smooth lager. Pale malt gives the beer a sweet, crisp taste, with abundant amounts of ripe, juicy peaches added in the brewhouse to capture the flavors and aromas of real, fresh fruit. 4.5% ABV/Abita Springs, LA/No ratings yet/Availability: decent/*Arriving Friday

Lakewood Punkel* – Lakewood decided to base their pumpkin beer on the classic dessert, not the gourd: Punkel has no pumpkin. It’s a dark, malty German lager enhanced by cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, and ginger. 5.5% ABV/Garland, TX/Ratebeer 77/Availability: decent/*Arriving Friday

New Oktoberfest beers from Abita and Sam Adams, both arriving Friday.

Funkwerks Galaxy Saison – Galaxy is a high alpha acid Australian hop variety known for contributing tropical fruit flavors and aromas such as passion fruit, papaya, and mango, while also imparting gentle citra notes. The strain of saison yeast used adds a subtle cinnamon and spice flavor accompanied by a slightly bitter finish. 7.4% ABV/Fort Collins, CO/Ratebeer 83/Availability: very limited/750mL format

Funkwerks Red Wine Saison – Funkwerks started with their Great American Beer Festival gold-medal winning flagship Saison and let it age in red wine barrels. The oak smooths the effervescent and spice notes of the Saison and adds amplifies the fruit characteristics. 7.2% ABV/Fort Collins, CO/No ratings yet/Availability: very limited/750mL format

Lagunitas Stoopid Wit – This is a more or less unfiltered Belgian-style Wit brew featuring a dry twang of hoppy bitterness and is perfect for the summertime drinking. 6.3% ABV/Petaluma, CA/Ratebeer 89/Availability: decent

Uinta Organic Punk’n – Punk’n ale is the pick of the crop with notes of roasted pumpkin and seasonal spices including nutmeg, cinnamon and all-spice. The only (as far as we know) certified organic pumpkin beer. 4% ABV/Salt Lake City, UT/Availability: decent

Real Ale Brewers Cut New World Pils – The Brewers’ Cut offering takes the one and only Hans Pils and spins it on its head with a new German hop variety, Huell Melon. Originally bred as a daughter to Cascade, Huell Melon offers a truly unique flavor profile that pays tribute to its American hop parentage and sets it apart from its noble hop peers. With notes of honeydew, strawberry, and lemon zest, this hop brings a refreshing brightness and a new-world twist to a classic, old-world style. 4.5% ABV/Blanco, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: limited

Bishop High & Dry Cider – The only thing drier than British humor is British cider, and we’ve brought it back across the pond. High & Dry is an English-style dry cider in 6 pack cans. 6.8% ABV/Dallas, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: decent

Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin – A big bodied beer with a light coppery orange color and pleasing aroma of pumpkin and nutmeg. Pale Ale, Wheat and Light Munich malts combine with the natural tannin in pumpkin and the delicate spiciness of Saphir and Hallertau Hops to balance the sweetness of the fruit. 9% ABV/Portland, ME/Ratebeer 85/Availability: decent

Revolver Red Shift – The latest seasonal release from Revolver is red ale brewed with cinnamon, ginger, white pepper, and finished with rose and hibiscus. The beer is malty and floral with a subtle spiced finish. 6.5% ABV/Granbury, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: plenty

Anderson Valley Briney Melon Gose* – The Briney Melon Gose boasts a thirst-quenching tartness that is perfectly balanced by subtle watermelon flavors and aromas.  Gentle additions of sea salt create a refreshing harmony between the acidity and fruity sweetness leading to clean, dry finish. 4.2% ABV/Boonville, CA/Ratebeer 92/Availability: decent/*Arriving Friday

Anderson Valley Holy Gose* – With a bright, golden color and tight creamy head, the earthy wood undertones in this Gose develop into a light mineral aroma with a hint of lemon zest and tropical fruit. Before boiling, the wort is kettle soured with lactobacillus, imparting an initial refreshing tartness that gives way to a subtle fullness. Flavors of guava and peach are followed by a slight sea salt dryness. 4.2% ABV/Boonville, CA/Ratebeer 85/Availability: decent/*Arriving Friday

Anderson Valley Barney Flats* – With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today. 5.8% ABV/Boonville, CA/Ratebeer 95/Availability: decent/*Arriving Friday

Anderson Valley Hop Ottin’ – Hop Ottin’ IPA is brewed and dry-hopped with copious amounts of Columbus and Cascade.  This beer is a showcase of the bright citrusy aromas, bold grapefruit and pine-like flavors, and resiny bitterness that hop heads crave.  With a brilliant, deep amber color and solid malt backbone, hints of citron, roses, and bergamot climax with a dry, herbal finish in this well-balanced interpretation of a West Coast IPA. 7% ABV/Boonville, CA/Ratebeer 95/Availability: decent/*Arriving Friday

All three beers are then blended together in the fermentation tank to create this German hybrid. 4.9% ABV/Milton, DE/No ratings yet/Availability:
