CAN You Dig It?

Exciting times at our Mueller location: we’re introducing crowlers! Now you have another option to take our delicious beer on the go with 32oz sealed cans. It’ll cost you an additional $1 on top of the price of the beer, and anything we pour in a 32oz growler can generally be canned. These bad boys will keep your beer fresher for longer than traditional growlers, and now your dream of shotgunning a quarter gallon of Stone’s w00tstout will finally become a reality (But please…don’t.). Check our website and in-house tap wall to view availability.

Then, starting August 1, we roll out our new Brewery of the Month, and we’re happy to announce it will be Community Brewing. All month long, six packs of their Mosaic IPA, Witbier, Public Ale, and Texas Helles will be $6.99 at both locations. Be sure to add one to each purchase, they make great impulse buys.

And finally, don’t forget about Texas Lambic Fest 2017! We can’t wait for this annual sour soiree, and you can be a part of the festivities, too. Tickets can be bought here for this celebration of some of Belgium’s (and the world’s) finest lambics, krieks, gueuzes, and more! Sponsors include yours truly, Collective Brewing Project, Big Bend Brewing, Hops & Grain, and more. Check the Facebook page for more detailed info. Don’t miss this!

Back in Stock: Austin EastCiders Blood Orange Cider, Twisted X Later Days, Avery Coconut Porter, Buffalo Bayou Figaro, Buffalo Bayou Lenin’s Revenge,  Reissdorf Kolsch, ACE BlackJack, Lexingotn Brewing Kentucky Peach Barrel Wheat, Blackwater Draw Border Town

The Bruery Terreux Fruct Lemon Cherry – This Berliner Weisse gains even more funky notes and natural earthy woodiness from fermentation in one of our twin oak foeder vessels – the largest known to be fabricated in this country. This iteration features the refreshing combination of lemon zest and tart cherries. 5% ABV / Anaheim, CA / Availability: Good / SoLa Only

The Bruery Guava Libre – A collaboration with South Florida’s Funky Buddha, this recreates the flavors you’d find in a Cuban guava pastry. Championing the big, bold flavors both breweries are known for, they brewed an imperial cream ale, adding lactose and vanilla to impart sweet, custard-like ribbons, and guava for filling its conceptual authenticity. 7.5% ABV / Anaheim, CA / RateBeer 88 / Availability: Good

The Bruery Saule 2017 Anniversary – Loosely based on an English-style old ale, fermented with their house yeast strain, aged in bourbon barrels, and blended using the solera method. This means that a portion of each anniversary ale is saved in oak barrels and blended in with the next year’s production, providing more complexity and depth of character as the years go by. The result is layered in robust and complex flavors of toffee, caramel, dark fruit, vanilla, and oak. 16.1% ABV / Anaheim, CA / BeerAdvocate 87 / Availability: Decent / SoLa Only

Tallgrass Blueberry Jam – Jam out with this refreshingly tart, German-style wheat ale brewed with blueberries. 4.3% ABV / Manhattan, KS / Availability: Good

Prairie Twist – Farmhouse ale dry hopped with Citra and a “twist” of citrus. 5.8% ABV / Tulsa, OK / Availability: Decent

Real Ale Lux Aeterna – Latin for ‘’eternal light,” Lux Aeterna brings a more delicate approach to a lineup occupied by darker, and often more intense barrel-aged sour beers. This Belgian-inspired White beer was aged for 8-10 months in old oak wine barrels that have been inoculated with their house culture of wild yeast and bacteria. The end result is a deliciously light sour beer marked by notes of tropical fruit, subtle funk, and a refreshing tartness. Finishing dry, and low on the alcohol, Lux Aeterna rewards its drinkers with its balanced complexity and enticing flavor. 5.5% ABV / Blanco, TX / Availability: Decent / Mueller Only

Lexington Kentucky Vanilla Barrel Cream Ale – Cold-conditioned cream ale brewed with a hint of flaked corn and bourbon vanilla beans and aged in freshly decanted Kentucky bourbon barrels for a minimum of two months. Made specifically for summertime in Austin, it’s great for sitting poolside or dockside. 5.6% ABV / Austin, TX / RateBeer 90

St. Elmo Carl Kolsch – A pale golden beer. Full-flavored yet very drinkable. Perfectly refreshing for the eight-month Texas summer. Summertime, and the Drinkin’ Is Easy

Ugh, the summer doldrums, am I right? We know the feeling, and while we still have our usual lineup of delicious sampling events and pint nights, we don’t really have any big news this week. That’s not to say there isn’t something new, unique, and tasty sitting on the shelf or on tap. Far from it! Your new favorite beer is ready to be discovered, and your friendly neighborhood WhichCraft staff is ready to help you discover it.

Another reminder about an upcoming event we’re excited to present: on Tuesday, July 25, we’re having another Style Night with the Beer Museum. And make sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, July 22, when we welcome Pedernales Brewing back to the South Lamar location to unveil the home-brewed Robert Earl Keen Front Porch Amber and compare it with the actual beer from the brewery, brewed at the same time. This will be an interesting afternoon, tasting the similarities and differences between the two versions.

Sierra Nevada/Duvel Hoppy Belgian Golden (Beer Camp Collab) – Belgium’s Duvel are the masters of the golden ale – a beer style they helped create – so it was a natural fit to combine the style with Sierra Nevada’s hop-forward fanaticism.
