WhichCraft Serving Precautions (Updated 5/28/20)

WhichCraft will begin to serve on-premise for customer consumption beginning on Friday, May 29th. Our hours will be as follows:

    • Noon until 8pm Sunday thru Wednesday
    • Noon til 9pm Thursday
    • Noon til 10pm Friday

Our main priority is safety for both customers and employees, so there are some new procedures we’ll be implementing beginning 5/29 to make sure everyone feels comfortable still shopping for packaged beer/wine/cider and/or staying for drinks.

Customer Rules:

    • All ordering to take place at computer by the door
    • You will place a beer order, sit only at a designated socially distanced table inside or outside (as instructed by staff), and we’ll bring you your drink(s). Reordering will take place the same way. As staffing permits, we’ll stop by your tables to take new drink orders.
    • Face masks preferred but not required. You can remove upon sitting and drinking
    • We’ll run a tab, and you’ll pay at the end of your visit
    • Customers making retail-only purchases are welcome to shop at their leisure, keeping 6’ distance from other customers and employees
    • No bar seating
    • Please use hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting the building

WhichCraft Operational Precautions:

    • All tables sanitized after each customer group has vacated
    • Plastic (recyclable) cups only… no glass for the time being
    • 16oz pint-size servings of beer only (with exception of barrel aged beers…only 5oz pours) to keep things simple
    • No bar seating, and only seat customers at designated properly-spaced tables
    • Increased outdoor seating options
    • Sneeze guard at point of sale
    • Credit cards only, no cash. We just installed a new credit card terminal that removes need for employees to handle customer credit cards.
    • Masks, hand washing and sanitizing, and cleanliness protocols followed and enforced
    • Gloves will be worn when:
      • Handling packaged beers (putting away new shipments, transferring 6 packs to singles, etc)
      • Making/preparing/delivering any customer-consumable items (crowlers, pints, coffee, etc)
    • Surfaces and bathrooms sanitized regularly
    • One bathroom for employees only; one bathroom for customer use only (no general public restrooms) – minimum $5 purchase

We’re excited to be able to start serving you again, and we ask for your help, patience, and commitment to making sure everyone stays healthy. Thanks!

S Lamar Bottle Shop is Closing

WhichCraft Fans and Friends,

It is with a heavy heart that the WhichCraft family announces the closing of our S Lamar bottle shop effective September 22nd, 2018 after 4.5 years operating that location.

As you have seen with our opening and operation of the Mueller location, future WhichCrafts will incorporate draft beer and coffee into the business model, and the S Lamar real estate and city zoning unfortunately prohibits us from offering on-premise consumption at that location. After evaluating the prospects with the city and landlord, it was determined we’d only ever be able to operate a bottle shop at that location. The bottle shop-only model is not part of our future plans, as having draft beer not only gives people more reasons to visit, but also offers more choices for our customers. Having a tap room in addition to bottles cans not only makes the experience better for our customers, but also for our employees. So it made more sense to focus on that experience in Mueller since we tried and failed to change the zoning to allow for on-premise consumption.

S Lamar is where I started the company, and where I met many of our customers and fans for the first time. Your continued loyalty and patronage of a small business start-up gave me immense joy and helped through the initial struggles of a brand new business. We love being a part of the Austin beer community and the camaraderie we feel with local breweries. It saddens me to announce this closing but I thank you for your continued support as we figure out our next location(s).

It should be noted that Mueller continues to thrive for us and we will absolutely continue to operate that business as we have for close to 2 years now.

Yours in beer,

Jody Reyes

WhichCraft is Hiring!

Interested in joining the WhichCraft team? Love talking beer, coffee and helping customers? Then we’d love for you to join us!

We’re currently hiring for both locations, ranging from one to five shifts per week depending on your availability. Multiple days and time slots are open and I’ll be hiring multiple people to help fill these slots.

We’re losing one of our coffee experts, so in particular I’d love to hire someone for Mueller who can be a great steward of our coffee program. A person who can train new employees, set and maintain quality control standards, and help formulate new seasonal coffee specials. Also help maintain our relationship with our roaster partner.

We look for people who are passionate about customer service, who are always active and on the go, not to mention love beer and coffee and look forward to talking with customers about both of these things. Retail or service industry experience is a plus but not required.

Email resumes and availability to jody [at] whichcraftbeerstore.com.

Thanks and I look forward to talking with you!
