We’ll be out at Independence Brewing Co this Saturday from 4-8pm helping them celebrate their 10th anniversary!  Come say hi and sign up for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate.  Tickets are here.  Yes, the shop will still be open normal hours on Saturday.

If you like the service and products you receive from us, we’d certainly appreciate your feedback on a review forum like YelpBeer Advocate and/or Rate Beer! We love our customers and we hope you love us back. If you’d like to send any direct feedback, email holler[at]whichcraftbeerstore.com.

Did you know we’re currently part of the Austin Habitat for Humanity House That Beer Built? We just got more of  these sweet glasses in stock last week you can buy for $6 each and ALL of the profit goes to help build the home for the Huerta family. Support a great cause and get a cool glass!

Upcoming Events, 6-8pm

TONIGHT! Thursday, October 9th

Chris from Oskar Blues Brewery in Longmont, CO will hopefully be recovered enough from GABF  to come in and sample out all the excellent Oskar Blues canned beers including Ten Fidy, the 10.5% ABV beast of a stout! He’ll also have one or two other goodies for sampling.

New Beers This Week

St Bernardus Christmas Ale – St. Bernardus Christmas Ale is the youngest descendant in the illustrious family of delicious Abbey Ales by Brewery St. Bernardus. This quadrupel is characterized by its deep dark color, with a creamy, thick head and a full, almost velvety taste with a fruity nose. It’s a seasonal ale, brewed annually for the holiday season.  10% ABV/Watou, Belgium/Ratebeer 99

Samichlaus Classic Doppelbock – The once strongest beer in the world is back! Brewed only once a year on December 6, Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling.  Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself.  We have both the Helles & Doppelbock in stock. 14% ABV/Vorchdorf, Austria/Beer Advocate Brothers 100

New Braunfels Sangre de Shiva – New Braunfels took their Shiva’s Tears weizenbock and aged it for 9 weeks in red wine barrels from William Cris Vineyards in Hye, TX.  The resulting beer is a lovely mix of wine & beer I just termed wine-zenbock.  8.2% ABV/New Braunfels, TX

New Braunfels Oktooberfest – This is the first barley beer to ever be brewed at New Braunfels as well as the first lager.  It’s a traditional marzen but is a tad bit maltier and spicier than some out there.  Meant to be drank with sausage.  5.3% ABV/New Braunfels, TX

Austin Beerworks Heavy Machinery Belgian IPA – The latest in the ABW heavy machinery series rotating IPA series is the Belgian IPA.  The Belgian yeast lends some biscuity & spicy characteristics and balances out the hops quite well.  9.5% ABV/ Austin, TX/Beer Advocate 87

Argus Malus Cuvee – The Malus Cuvee is a blend of apples from both the 2011 & 2012 harvest. Aged on New American Oak and still (no carbonation), the Malus is a fruit forward apple table wine inspired by some of Argus’ favorite new world whites and German Apfelweins.   7.3% ABV/Austin, TX

Sierra Nevada Ovila Tripel – Great Tripels are a testament to the skill of the brewer-monks who created them. Tripels play tricks on the senses—at first glance, they appear delicate and simple, but in reality, the golden color and mild appearance conceal a wealth of complex flavors. Ovila Abbey Tripel is Sierra’s take on the classic style, with toasty malt sweetness balanced by reserved floral hop notes and complemented by a traditional Belgian abbey yeast.  8.8% ABV/Chico, CA/Ratebeer 94

Game of Thrones Valar Morghulis – Number 4 in the Game of Thrones/Ommegang collaboration series, Valar Morghulis is brewed with pilsner and other specialty malts and hopped with Apollo and Hallertau Spalt Select hops. The hue is deep amber-brown with a persistent, creamy, off-white head. Aromas include caramel, toffee, ripe fruit, banana and slightly burnt sugar.  8% ABV/Cooperstown, NY/Beer Advocate 87

Brooklyn Hand & Seal –  The Brooklyn brewing team toiled a great many hours to create the most robust barleywine they had ever produced. Then it was set to rest for months in casks of Bourbon oak, and finally refermented in the bottle. The result is one of the richest, tastiest beers to ever emerge from the Brooklyn brewery. The deep flavors of floor-malted Maris Otter barley shine through layers of vanilla, coconut, toast and floral notes given by aging in Four Roses bourbon wood. 13.3% ABV/Brooklyn, NY/No rating yet

Boulevard Bourbon Barrel Quad 2014* – Based loosely on the Smokestack Series’ The Sixth Glass, this abbey-style quadrupel is separated into a number of oak bourbon barrels where it ages for varying lengths of time, some for up to three years. Cherries are added to make up for the “angel’s share” of beer lost during barrel aging. Selected barrels are then blended for optimum flavor. The resulting beer retains only very subtle cherry characteristics, with toffee and vanilla notes coming to the fore.  11.8% ABV/Kansas City, MO/Ratebeer 99   *Arriving Friday

Boulevard/Ommegang Collaboration Silver* – This is the 4th in the collaboration series from Boulevard and this is an Ommegang collab spiced saison.  They added sweet orange peel, lemon peel, coriander & grains of paradise to finish dry and spicy.  7.3% ABV/Kansas City, MO/Ratebeer 86   *Arriving Friday

Boon Kriek* – Boon blends old and young lambic beer that has aged in oak casks to create this excellent kriek. When the lambic is 6 months old, 25% black cherries are added.  This provokes the second fermentation which is then clarified, filtered and bottled.  4% ABV/Lembeek, Belgium/Ratebeer 85   *Arriving Friday

Rogness Mudcat – This is the 2014 result of the pro-am competition Rogness holds each year.  This one is an aggressively hopped brown ale with a heaping helping of Amarillo hops.  6.8% ABV/Austin, TX

Community Mosaic – Yes, we have more Community Mosaic IPA arriving this Friday!  Get it before it’s gone!
