Founders KBS Release & Tasting This Friday! Plus HAAM Day Next Tuesday.

Yup, you read that subject line correctly.  Myk O’Connor, Founders Brewery rep and owner of an incredible beard, will be dishing out free samples off all the fantastic Founders brews this Friday 9/19 from 6-8pm.  Think that’s all?  It’s not.  We have a case of the world famous Kentucky Breakfast Stout we’re selling as well.  Details of how to win a chance to buy a bottle are here.  We’re also offering 10% off all Founders for the night, and 20% off when you mix and match a full case (24 12oz beers)!  Not to mention the excellent Founders Porter just arrived today too!

If you like the service and products you receive from us, we’d certainly appreciate your feedback on a review forum like Yelp, Beer Advocate and/or Rate Beer! We love our customers and we hope you love us back. If you’d like to send any direct feedback, email holler[at]whichcraftbeerstore.com.

Next Tuesday 9/23 is HAAM Benefit Day in Austin.  Like countless other businesses in this great city of ours, we’re giving away 5% of the day’s proceeds to help support the rich musical culture we all love.  We also selected Victory Brewing out of Pennsylvania to have a tasting that night, so swing on by for free Victory samples and to help us donate money to HAAM.

Four words:  Kentucky Breakfast Stout, suckas!  Details on how to win a chance to buy a bottle here.  Huge Founders savings (10% off everything, and 20% off when you mix & match a full case), free samples of everything except KBS, and all around good times.  Myk will maybe even let you touch his beard if you ask nicely.

Tuesday, September 23rd

Aaron Anderson from Victory Brewing out of Downingtown, PA will be in the house sampling out the new seasonal brews and a couple of old standbys from Victory.  This is one of the consistently highest rated breweries we can get regularly in TX, so swing on in and taste a few.

But that’s not all!  Tuesday 9/23 is HAAM Benefit Day in Austin, where tons of businesses each donate 5% of the day’s proceeds to support Austin musicians’ health care needs.  It’s a wonderful organization and buying beer is a great way to increase our donation to HAAM.  Win/Win!

Wednesday, September 24th

BBQ & Beer cowboy Frank Mancuso from Saint Arnold Brewing is always a pleasure having in the store, and he’ll kick out free samples of the St Arnold brews for your tippling pleasure.  As always, Frank has some ridiculous things in his cellar, so I’m sure he’ll bring out one or two old St Arnold brews from years past to sample out for free!

New Beers This Week

Prairie Standard* – Prairie Standard is Prairie’s everyday beer.  It’s a light, crisp saison with a hoppy finish. This beer is dry hopped 1lb per barrel of Motueka hops, a lovely New Zealand hop with a spicy lime like flavor and aroma.  5.2% ABV/Krebs, OK/Ratebeer 98   *Arriving Friday

Clown Shoes The Good, The Bad & the Unidragon* – Clown Shoes brewed this special version of Blaecorn Unidragon using dark malts sourced Blacklands Malts right here in central Texas!  This beer will only be sold in Texas.  This one is highly allocated from our distributor, so come grab a bottle soon.  14% ABV/Ipswich, MA/No rating yet on Ratebeer or BA!   *Arriving Friday

903 Brewers Sugar on Top IPA – We’re lucky enough to be only one of TWO accounts in Austin to have beer.  903 Brewers from Sherman, TX are a husband & wife team kicking out delicious and unique beers.  This one is an IPA in which Jeremy throws a bit of brown sugar in right at the end of the boil to raise the ABV as well add a bit of sweetness to counteract the hop profile.  This was bottled on Tuesday, so it’s ridiculously fresh.  Get it before it’s gone!  8.7% ABV/Sherman, TX/Beer Advocate 85

Wolf 7 – In the aroma you distinguish mainly vanilla, white pepper and some fruity scents. The main palate is soft sweet, creamy with a sober alcohol impression. In the aftertaste you notice some stone fruits (peach, nectarine) and a soft and smooth bitterness is present.  7.4% ABV/Aarschot, Belgium/Beer Advocate 86

Southern Tier 2x Rye* – Southern Tier’s latest in their 2x series is a Rye IPA.  It has slightly spicy and earthy notes that the rye bring to the party.  It’s still an IPA though, coming in at 8.1% ABV.  The 2x series never disappoints, and we’re excited to try this one.  8.1% ABV/Lakewood, NY/Ratebeer 98   *Arriving Friday

Deschutes Doppel Dinkel Bock – This one wins for most creative name this week.  It’s a 10.7% doppelbock collaboration between Deschutes and Dinkelhauser Brewing from Germany.   Aromas of bubblegum, banana, clove, citrus, and a slight spiciness.  Rich, dark & velvety mouthfeel.  10.7% ABV/Bend, OR/Ratebeer 95

Dogfish Head Noble Rot – A sort of Saison, fermented with Botrytis-infected Viognier and Pinot Gris grapes. This beer is brewed with Pils malt, organic Hard Red Winter Wheat malt, Warrior hops, Willamette hops, Liberty hops, Saison yeast and Botrytis wine must.  9% ABV/Milton, DE/Ratebeer 94

Dogfish Head Positive Contact – Positive Contact is a cider-beer-hybrid very loosely based on a Belgian-style Wit beer brewed with a bunch of unconventional ingredients for the style.  Brewed with Fuji apple cider, cilantro & cayenne pepper.  This was then blended with a 50/50 wheat & barley beer to finish out the brew.  Very unique.  9% ABV/Milton, DE/Ratebeer 91

Dogfish Head 75 Minute – 75 Minute IPA is a blend of 60 and 90 Minute IPAs with a special whole leaf cascade dry-hopping session. Post-hopping the beer gets transferred into firkins and dosed with fresh yeast and maple syrup.  A very complex and delicious brew!  7.5% ABV/Milton, DE/Ratebeer 99

Founders Porter – A perfect 100 on Ratebeer!  Pours silky black with a creamy tan head. The nose is sweet with strong chocolate and caramel malt presence. No absence of hops gives Founders’ robust porter the full flavor you deserve and expect. Cozy like velvet. It’s a lover, not a fighter.  On sale this Friday!  Details above.  6.5% ABV/Grand Rapids, MI/Ratebeer 100

Anchor Saaremaa Island Ale – Inspired by Anchor Brewmaster Mark Carpenter’s Estonian beer journey. Saaremaa Island Ale is a medium-bitter pale ale (6% ABV) with Old World hop flavor and aroma with a light body and clean finish.   This beer highlights a unique yeast strain Carpenter brought back from the island.  6% ABV/San Francisco, CA/Ratebeer 86

Breckenridge Autumn – Looking for a fresh take on an Oktoberfest beer? Breckenridge’s fall seasonal combines the malty goodness of a German lager with the clean crispness of an American ale. Brewed with Munich malts and a delicate blend of Bavarian hops.  Autumn Ale is a full-bodied treat with a nutty-sweet middle, a warming alcohol level and notes of toasted grains.  6.7% ABV/Denver, CO/Beer Advocate 81

Wells & Young’s Banana Bread – Here by popular demand, this beer isropically fruity; its ripe banana flavor, emphasized by a hint of bitterness, comes from the addition of real fair trade bananas and finishes with an emphatic, steely dryness.  5.2% ABV/Bedford, England/Beer Advocate 79

Estrella Damm Inedit – A skillfully brewed blend of lager and wheat beer styles, Inedit uses a combination of barley malt, wheat, hops, coriander, orange peel, yeast and water. Uniquely brewed to create a complex aroma and opaque appearance, a floral nose leaves a sensation of fresh yeast and sweet spices. Lightly carbonated with a creamy texture, the soft full body leaves a long and lasting finish.  4.8% ABV/Barcelona, Spain/Beer Advocate 82

Fullers London Porter – Fuller’s London Porter, is widely regarded as the World’s Finest Porter.   Having won awards all over the world, London Porter is regularly voted the number one Porter on beer websites such as Ratebeer.  Rich, dark & complex.  5.4% ABV/London, England/Ratebeer 100

Smuttynose Pilsner – A German-style pilsner with a bright & crisp mouthfeel.  Soft bready malt and a bright & clean finish.  5.1% ABV/Hampton, NH/Ratebeer 88

No Label Black Wit-o* – Uniquely different dark wheat ale. This beer is brewed with a touch of star of anise at the end of the boil to give it a nice smooth finish with a slight hint of licorice.  7% ABV/Katy, TX/Ratebeer 77   *Arriving Friday

Alvinne Melchior* – Moderate aromas of Belgian yeast and candi sugars are present in the nose along with some hints of spices. The taste initially starts off with a little sweetness but as the sediment is poured out of the bottle subtle flavors of mustard seeds become stronger and help to balance off the candi sugar. 11% ABV/Moen, Belgium/Ratebeer 81   *Arriving Friday

Wasatch Pumpkin* – Brewed with the finest barley and pure pumpkin, then spiced like your favorite holiday pie. This amber-hued ale is sure to please!  4% ABV/Park City, UT/Ratebeer 90   *Arriving Friday
