Andrew from 5 Stones will be at the tasting bar pouring free samples of all the latest releases from your favorite adjunct-brewery down in Cibolo, TX. We’ll be sampling Pompous Monkey, Spanish Monk, Fracking Blackstrap and I’ll Be Your Basilberry. Don’t miss it!

Saturday, September 12th

Ex-employee and generally wonderful person Arjit Mahapatra will be combining two of Flood Distribution’s meads with two Jolly Pumpkin beers in our Saturday tasting. We’ll be sampling the sparkling meads from Craft Meadery – Meadjito and Ninja Dragon, as well as Luciernaga and Fuego del Otoño from Jolly Pumpkin.

Tuesday, September 15th

New Epic Brewing rep Davis Howe will be pouring samples of last year’s cellared Imperial Pumpkin Porter in addition to Elder Brett Saison, Hop Syndrome hoppy lager & Escape to Colorado IPA.

Wednesday, September 16th

Revoler’s new rep Jonathon Seaborn will be sampling the most recent new bottle release – an American IPA called Ironhead. We’ll also sample Bock and Blood & Honey for good measure.

Thursday, September 17th

Blake Murrah from Southern Star is an all-around nice guy, so come say hi while he samples out Walloon farmhouse ale, Buried Hatchet stout, Pinebelt pale ale and Red Cockaded imperial red ale.

Lakewood French Quarter Temptress* – We were lucky enough to secure a couple cases of the very highly anticipated French Quarter Temptress. Lakewood took spent bourbon barrels from their BBT release and aged green coffee beans for four months in them. They were then roasted and added to their 9% imperial milk stout along with some chicory for a very rich & unique combo. NOTE: Release date for these is Monday 9/14, beginning when we open at 11am. Under NO circumstances will we sell anyone a bottle prior to then, per the brewery’s request. 9.1% ABV/Garland, TX/Ratebeer 98/Availability: limited and will go fast/*Will not sell before 11am Monday, Sept 14th.

Dogfish Head Kvasir – Part of Dogfish’s ancient ales series, The recipe for Kvasir was developed with the help of chemical, botanical and pollen evidence taken from a 3,500‐year‐old Danish drinking vessel. Analysis showed ingredients to be wheat, lingonberries, cranberries, myrica gale, yarrow, honey and birch syrup. 10% ABV/Milton, DE/Ratebeer 88/Availability: plenty

Smuttlabs Smoked Peach Short Weisse – Smuttynose out of New Hampshire has a special series called Smuttlabs, and this is the first release Texas has received. It uses a touch of smoked malt and peaches on a base of a Berliner weisse. 6.9% ABV/Hampton, NH/Ratebeer 84/Availability: limited

Texas Keeper Heirloom – A brand new release from TX Keeper that just walked through our door, this is a blend of three heirloom apples: Rhode Island Greening is the 2nd oldest apple in the US, dating from around 1650. Rome Beauty and Ben Davis were also added before the blend being aged in lightly toasted French oak barrels. Dry, fruity, complex and delicious. 903 Brewers from Sherman, TX is a family-run affair that only distributes to Austin very sporadically. We were lucky enough to get a shipment this week when owner/brewer Jeremy Roberts was dropping off his beer at Live Oak for transportation to the GABF festival in Denver at the end of the month. We got cans of Citra on Top, their brown sugar and citra hopped IPA, Trot Line saison, Land of Milk & Honey, a lactose and TX honey ale, and Sasquatch, an imperial milk stout. Try all 4 in a pre-made mixed 4 pack!

Circle Hop Overboard Session IPA – You may recognize the name, though the packaging and hop bill has changed in the latest release of Hop Overboard. It’s now a session IPA, and the body has been lightened a bit. It still comes in 6 pack bottles; try the new recipe! 4.5% ABV/Austin, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: plenty

Elevation 7437 Double IPA – Aromatic notes of tangerine, pine, grapefruit and mango. Chinook, Galena, Simcoe, Citra & Mosiac create a very citrusy and balanced double IPA. Now in 4 packs and singles! 8.37% ABV/Poncha Springs, CO/Ratebeer 93/Availability: plenty

Elevation Third Base – Also in 4 packs, this Belgian tripel has hints of black pepper, lemon and orange peel. 9% ABV/Poncha Springs, CO/Beer Advocate 84/Availability: plenty

Elevation Apis IV – Again, now in 4 packs, Apis IV is a Belgian-style quadrupel, which pours dark brown with hues of orange and red, a thick creamy off-white head, and traditional Belgian lacing. The beer has notes of bread, dark plums, figs, molasses, and honey, balanced by light earthy and floral hop aromas. 10.7% ABV/Poncha Springs, CO/Ratebeer 94/Availability: plenty

No Label Nightmare on 1st Street – No Label’s annual pumpkin release is an imperial pumpkin ale. Aromas of allspice, cinnamon, and other spices. 9.27% ABV/Katy, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: plenty

5 Stones I’ll Be Your Basilberry – The latest 5 Stones release is an ale made with fresh blackberries and basil. Fruity but balanced, a great end-of-the-summer brew. 6.5% ABV/Cibolo, TX/Availability: plenty

Schmaltz Bock Bock –Shmaltz Bock Bock has spent months in a blend of bourbon barrels, including Jim Beam, Heaven Hill, and Buffalo Trace. It gains its toasty, rich malt body and nutty caramel flavor from distinctive European malts, such as Vienna, Munich and Crystal, to make a traditional bock base. 9.2% ABV/Clifton Park, NY/Ratebeer 97/Availability: plenty

Schmaltz Death of a Contract Brewer Black IPA – Schmaltz’s fall seasonal is a highly rated black IPA that’s a good mixture of roasted malt flavor and piney hop presence. Comes in 4 packs and singles. 7% ABV/Clifton Park, NY/Ratebeer 96/Availability: plenty

Central City Patrick o’ Pumpkin – Central City out of Vancouver BC makes some very good hoppy beers, but this is their first barrel aged release we’ve received down here in Texas. It’s a full-bodied pumpkin ale aged in bourbon barrels for a spicy & rich finish. 8% ABV/Vancouver, Canada/No ratings yet/Availability: decent
