Our ex-employee Arjit Mahapatra is 1) pretty darn great and 2) now a distributor rep for Flood Distribution, who distributes some excellent brands such as Jester King, Jolly Pumpkin, Mikkeller, etc. We were just talking today about how many great Virtue ciders we now have in stock so we agreed it’s about high time for a Virtue-only tasting event. If you’re a cider fan this is not a tasting to miss! Even if you’re not, expand your mind!

Stone Imperial Russian Stout – This massive and intensely aromatic beer abounds with notes of chocolate, coffee, black currants, anise and roastiness, and its heavy palate is nothing to be trifled with. Bittersweet cocoa and coffee flavors dominate but there is a slightly astringent & bitter finish. 10.6% ABV/Escondido, CA/Ratebeer 100/Availability: limited

Stone Imperial Russian Stout w/ Chai Spice – Just like the Old Guardian series, Stone does “odd beers for odd years” takes on their standard recipes. Dogfish Head Black & Blue – Black & Blue is golden Belgian Ale made with over 300 lbs of fresh blackberries and blueberries. Boulevard Spring Belle* – Spring Belle Saison marries the crisp, spicy flavor of a traditional farmhouse saison, with its citrusy hop notes, to the fresh floral aromas of chamomile, rose petals, and elderflower. Boulevard Saison Brett* – One of the Smokestack series’ most sought-after annual releases, the Saison Brett is assertively dry hopped, then bottle conditioned with various yeasts, including Brettanomyces, a wild strain that imparts a distinctive earthy & tart/funky quality. Virtue Offalgood Cider – Virtue Cidery out of Michigan is without a doubt one of the premier cideries we have access to in Texas. Their most recent releases are part of a series of chef collaborations. The Offalgood cider is a collab with Chef Chris Cosentino from Cockscomb Restaurant in SF. It’s a full-bodied blend of bittersweet and bittersharp apple varieties, offering aromas of overripe apple and the orchard, and a dry, crisp, citrusy flavor, supported by hearty tannins. Delicious. 6.7% ABV/Fennville, MI/No ratings/Availability: limited

Virtue The Publican – Chef Paul Kahn from The Publican in Chicago collaborated on this cider. The release blends several heirloom apple varieties including bittersweets, Winesap, and Northern Spy, to offer a full-body, ripe apple and farm aromatics, a crisp, nutty flavor, and rich tannins. 6.5% ABV/Fennville, MI/No ratings/Availability: limited

Moonlight Meadery Fury – Spicy mead! Talk about a taste explosion. Habanero, Ghost & Trinidad Moruga Scorpion peppers combine for a most unique flavor combo. 13.8% ABV/Londonderry, NH/No ratings/Availability: limited
