New Beers This Week

903 Brewers Sasquatch  – 903 Brewers out of Sherman, TX doesn’t make trips to Austin very regularly but when they do we always try and grab a large quantity of their stuff. They brought us 4 different bombers this week and we’re excited to have them in stock. The Sasquatch is an imperial chocolate milk stout that comes in at 10.7% ABV. It’s brewed with lactose (milk sugar), cocoa nibs & chocolate malt. 10.7% ABV/Sherman, TX/Availability: plenty

903 Brewers The Land of Milk & Honey Stout – This one is a honey stout brewed with roasted malt and lactose for smoothness.  Local honey from Crouse Farms gives it a light crispness with just a touch of sweetness.  All this goodness made in a land flowing with milk and honey.  9% ABV/Sherman, TX/Availability: plenty

903 Brewers The Chosen One Coconut Ale – This one is 903 Brewers’ flagship beer, an American ale that highlights the sweet taste of toasted coconuts. It starts with a sweet biscuit taste and finishes with a hint of toasted coconut. 6.8% ABV/Sherman, TX/Availability: plenty

903 Brewers Crackin Up Pecan Porter – This is a robust porter infused with a classic Texas ingredient: pecans. It is full bodied and a little on the sweet side. Its bold flavor comes from roasted malt, its generous hop additions, and toasted pecans. 8.5% ABV/Sherman, TX/Availability: plenty

Branchline 2nd Anniversary Belgian IPA – Branchline celebrates their 2nd anniversary with a beefed up version of their year-round IPA. It’s made with 2-row, crystal & rye malts, Belgian candi sugar to increase the ABV and Belgian strong ale yeast. The result is a fruity, spicy & tropical Belgian-Style Rye IPA. 10.7% ABV/San Antonio, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: limited

Austin Beerworks Heavy Machinery Black IPA – A perfect mix of roasty & hoppy, available in 4 pack cans. Just hit yesterday so super fresh. No more explanation needed! Just get it. 7% ABV/Austin, TX/Beer Advocate 86/Availability: plenty

Smuttynose Zinneke Belgian stout – Named in honor of the doggy denizens of Brussels, this hybrid beer is a mix of the best of a big, roasty stout, but fermented with a Belgian yeast, which brings out a beautiful fruity nose. We set aside a portion of the batch to age in bourbon barrels to allow the stout’s chocolate and caramel flavors to marry with the woods natural vanilla and toastiness.  8.4% ABV/Hampton, NH/Ratebeer 95/Availability: decent

Upslope Foreign Style Stout – Full bodied, black, roasted, and exceptionally smooth, this was Upslope’s first anniversary beer and first limited can release. Finishes neither sweet nor dry, it is wonderfully balanced, making it perfect for stout lovers and stout newbies. 6.9% ABV/Denver, CO/Beer Advocate 82/Availability: plenty

Deep Ellum Darkest Hour Imperial Stout – A very creative & big stout from the folks at Deep Ellum, this one is brewed with raw cane sugar as well as Belgian-style dark candi syrup to raise the ABV. This sweet wort is then fed to their favorite ale yeast to result in an 11% dark & roasty beast. 11% ABV/Dallas, TX/Beer Advocate 91/Availability: plenty

Witkap-Pater Abbey Single Ale – This isn’t a beer we see very often in Texas. It’s a patersbier, or Belgian “single.” In other words, it’s what the monks would drink as a table strength beer with meals. Fruity Belgian esters and sweetness with a slighty spicy hoppiness. 6% ABV/Ninove, Beligum/Ratebeer 84

Hops & Grain Greenhouse #13 – The Greenhouse eagle has landed! Batch #13 just came out today and we have plenty. Thought, don’t expect it to last more than a couple days… this stuff usually flies. This batch is Meridian, Amarillo, Mosaic & Hersbrucker. 7.7% ABV/Austin, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: plenty

Jolly Pumpkin Saison X – Saison brewed with candied ginger, lemon peel, orange peel, and a blend of pink, black, and green peppercorns. All naturally occurring wild yeast, aged in French, Austrian, and American oak. 4.5% ABV/Dexter, MI/Ratebeer 90/Availability: plenty

Jolly Pumpkin Madrugada Obscura – A Belgian inspired stout that is as dark as a moonless midnight, brimming of roasted malts and hops. Aromas of cocoa, tart cherries, plums & licorice. Has sour fruity flavors of tart cherries. A very complex and unique brew. 8.1% ABV/Dexter, MI/Ratebeer 96/Availability: plenty

Buffalo Bayou Figaro Figaro Figaro Fiiigaaaaaro (actual name) – Figs contribute a rich, round earthiness to the malt’s dark fruit & raisin flavors. This Belgian quad yeast strain embodies both spicy pepper and light fruit flavors. 11% ABV/Houston, TX/Beer Advocate 83/Availability: limited

Champion Stickin in my IPA – As a teenager listening to punk rock, NOFX was (and still is!) one of my favorite bands. You’re probably wondering what this has to do with craft beer. Well NOFX teamed up Champion Brewing out of Charlottesville, Virginia to make a Rye IPA in 24 oz cans. You had me at NOFX. 7% ABV/Ratebeer 89/Availability: limited
