New Beers This Week

To Ol Black Malts & Body Salts Black IPA – This is about as much flavor as you can pack into a 12 oz bottle.  Made with tons of roasted malt and a generous hop bill, French press coffee is also added to add a roasted coffee flavor.  This one will go fast!  9.0% ABV/Denmark

To Ol Goliat – One of the best coffee imperial stouts you’ll every try.  10.1 ABV, packed with roasted malt.  The coffee flavor is quite present by not overpowering.  Rich, dark fruit, roasted malt & deliciousness.

Jolly Pumpkin Noel de Calabaza – Belgian Christmas ale (2013 vintage… don’t worry, it’s not yet that time of year!) aged in oak barrels.  Deep mahogany and malty, notes of figs, raisins, sugar plums, cashews and rum laden truffles.  9.0% ABV/Dexter, MI

Jolly Pumpkin Luciernaga – The Firefly, an artisan pale ale brewed in the Grand Cru tradition. Enjoy its golden effervescence and gentle hop aroma. Coriander and Grains of Paradise round out the spicy palate, melting o so softly into a silken finish of hoppiness and bliss.  6.5% ABV/Dexter, MI

Jester King Noble King – Earthy noble hops and rustic farmhouse yeast create an elegant balance in this dry and drinkable golden ale. Naturally carbonated through re-fermentation in the bottle.  5.9%/Austin, TX

Brooklyn Ama Bruna – Brooklyn Brewmaster Garrett Oliver partnered with Italian brewery Birra Amarcord to make this dubbel-style ale.  Like everything Brooklyn does, this beer was designed specifically to pair with food.  Plus the bottles look great!  7.5% ABV/Appechio, Italy

Brooklyn Ama Bionda – Bionda is a golden beer with a soft but complex floral and fruity character, born of aromatic malts, three types of hops, Italian Orange Blossom honey from Sicily, and water from springs that date to Roman times.  6% ABV/Appechio, Italy

Sierra Nevada Barrel Aged Narwhal Imperial Stout – It seems to be that time of year when breweries are beginning to roll out their big barrel aged offerings.  The Narwhal features incredible depth of malt flavor, rich with notes of espresso, baker’s cocoa, roasted grain and a light hint of smoke, Narwhal is a massive malt-forward monster. Aggressive but refined with a velvety smooth body and decadent finish, Narwhal will age in the bottle for years to come.  10.2% ABV/Chico, CA

Avery The Beast Grand Cru – Another exceptional selection from the Avery barrel room, this annual release never disappoints.  High ABV (16%), rich, dark and complex.  Can be aged in your cellar for up to 10 years.  Drink one and age one.  16% ABV/Boulder, CO

Stone 18th Anniversary – Stone’s 18th Anniversary ale is a golden-brown India pale ale dry-hopped exclusively and abundantly with El Dorado hops.   Tastes of earth, citrus fruit, citrus zest, and spicy herbal hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip.   8.5% ABV/Escondido, CA

Woodchuck Pumpkin Cider – Aroma is typical of sweet ciders with a cloy candy apple nose, but this time with a touch of Christmastime aroma. The flavor is earthy and pumpkinesque with candy red apple flavors and a sweet champagne yeast finish. 6.9% ABV/Middlebury, VT

Woodchuck Sour Cherry Cider – The latest from the Cellar Series line from Woodchuck, this bomber pairs cherries from Michigan with sweet and bittersweet apple varities.  6.9% ABV/Middlebury, VT

Full Sail “26” Cascade Pilsner – “26” is a Northwest take on a European classic and features intense aromas of pine and spice with citrus notes and is supported by a medium body, dry malty palate, and is balanced with a long, clean, herbal hop finish.  6% ABV/ Hood River, OR

Victory Festbier Oktoberfest – Seductively smooth, this medium-bodied amber beauty is akin to the great Oktoberfest beers of Munich. All German hops make this lager true to style. Patient cold aging makes it wonderfully smooth. 5.6% ABV/Downington, PA

Victory Moonglow Imperial Weizenbock – This dark amber wheat beer features fruity and spicy aromas galore. Significant strength underlies the pleasant citric appeal of this bock beer. Redolent with the flavors of harvest fruit, Moonglow typifies the traditional weizenbock-style so thoroughly enjoyed throughout Bavaria. Left unfiltered, its unique yeast strain gives Moonglow a radiance all its own. 8.7% ABV/Downington, PA

Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin* – Smashed Pumpkin is a big-bodied beer with a light coppery orange color and pleasing aroma of pumpkin and nutmeg. Pale Ale, Wheat and Light Munich Malts combine with the natural tannin in pumpkin and the delicate spiciness of Willamette and Hallertau Hops to balance the sweetness of the fruit.  9% ABV/Portland, ME   *Arriving Friday

Crown Valley Imperial Stout Pumpkin Smash – Crown Valley just launched recently in TX and they’re making some highly rated beers.  Their imperial pumpkin stout is deliciously roasted with dark chocolate and toffee notes with a hint of smoke and a little spice from the hops that give it a pine note. The pumpkin adds body and character for a great beer.  10.6% ABV/St. Genevieve, MO

Crown Valley Big Bison Ale – A bottle conditioned Belgian dubbel with notes of roasted malt, caramel, dark fruit, raisins and plums.  7.2% ABV/St. Genevieve, MO

Crown Valley Red Wine Barrel Aged Big Bison – The Big Bison was placed in red wine barrels for 2 months to develop a more velvety mouthfeel and depth of flavor.  7.2% ABV/St. Genevieve, MO
