New Beers This Week

Back in stock: Jester King Figlet, Jester King Das Wunderkind, Nebraska Melange a Trois.

Stone Xocoveza Charred – If you had the standard version of Xocoveza this winter you know how incredible of a spiced stout it is. Based on Mexican hot cocoa, peppers, cocoa, coffee and spices combine for a great dessert beer. This version got the bourbon barrel treatment which gave an already complex beer even more complexity and flavor intensity, layering additional caramel-like and vanilla flavors on top of those already present. Aromas of rich coffee and dark chocolate are followed by nutmeg and cinnamon a lush, heavy mouthfeel laden with charred oak and toffee engulfs the palate on the first sip. 10% ABV/Escondido, CA/Ratebeer 99/Availability: limited with no limit

Knee Deep Tanilla – This Vanilla Bean Porter is made with Grade A Tahitian vanilla beans to compliment the robust style porter. Tanilla carries a smooth chocolate flavor complemented by the delicate intensity of vanilla beans, and a rich aroma of coffee. 6.3% ABV/Auburn, CA/Ratebeer 84/Availability: plenty

Oskar Blues Deviant Dale’s – This beer is intended to be a sensory assault for hop lovers. At 8.0% ABV, four hop additions during the brew process, and a final wallop of excessive Columbus dry-hopping, this beer is not for hop haters. 8% ABV/Longmont, CO/Ratebeer 99/Availability: decent

Meridian Hive Broken Crown Mead – Smoky chipotle peppers battle fiercely with raspberries for the aroma, while intense fruit fortifies the orange blossom honey character. Moderate pepper heat flanks sweetness without dominating. 12.2% ABV/Austin, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: plenty

Odell The Meddler Oud Bruin – The Meddler oud bruin is comprised of several generations of brown ales, barrel aged and blended. Wild yeasts and Lactobacillus mix with the brew for over 18 months creating complexity and depth of flavor. Hints of malty sweet chocolate and vanilla toy with a hauntingly sour finish. 8.6% ABV/Fort Collins, CO/Ratebeer 98/Availability: very limited

Ballast Point Black Marlin – A hoppy twist on the classic English Porter. Black Marlin is crafted from a unique blend of roasted and crystallized malts that give it a smooth, chocolaty, caramel profile. A healthy dose of American hops tweak the traditional style a bit. 6% ABV/San Diego, CA/Ratebeer 95/Availability: plenty

Ballast Point Pineapple Sculpin* – Pineapple Sculpin IPA came from one of many small-batch cask experiments to enhance the flavor of BP’s signature IPA. With so many tropical hop notes in Sculpin, the pineapple plays well with the natural hop flavors. Notes of apricot, mango and lemon. 7% ABV/San Diego, CA/Ratebeer 97/Availability: plenty/*Releasing Saturday at noon during our free Ballast Point tasting 12-3pm.
