Count Down to Pi Day: Bake Your Heart Out! #AvoidSXSW at WhichCraft

Mark your calendars because this Tuesday, March 14th, is Pi Day. WhichCraft Tap Room n Mueller is cookin’ up some fun by hosting a rare beer tapping and Pi (pie) Bake Off! Attendees are encouraged to bring in a homemade pie to be considered as part of this competition. At the end of the event a Pi (pie) champion will be declared and will go home with a $40 WhichCraft gift card, a free t-shirt and eternal bragging rights. This shindig kicks off at 7:00pm and attendees will start casting votes at 7:30. As if that wasn’t enough, we will also be tapping some rare kegs of Wicked Week Brettaberry and Jester King Das Wunderkind. It’s every Austinite’s favorite time of year! South By Southwest has begun and WhichCraft has your back. It’s easy to #AvoidSXSW with a week of special tastings and events. Our two locations means it doesn’t matter if you live up north or down south. There’s always something going on to help you avoid the crowds. Events begin tonight with the release of Hops & Grain’s River Beer at our Mueller location and a free tasting of Chimay at our South Lamar store. Saturday, March 11th

11am-1pm – Stop by WhichCraft Beer Store for free samples of Sofiemosas: that’s Goose Island Sofie with fresh OJ.

3-5pm – It’s a free tasting featuring Martin House Counter Clockwise Swirl, Cellarman’s Reserve and Salty Lady.

6-8pm – We’ll be hosting a Destihl Brewing and Donut pairing. Come try Destihl Flanders Red with raspberry paired with chocolate glazed. Mango Synchopathis with powdered donuts. And Here Gose Nothing with Mexican Hot Chocolate topped with Sugar, Cinnamon, & Cayenne .

Tuesday, March 14th

Our good friend Holly from Real Ale Brewing will be behind the bar to pour free samples of Pinsetter, Helles, Brewer’s Cut Elderhop Saison and Hans’ Pils. As a special promotion, six packs of Real Ale Pinsetter will be only $6.99 all weekend long.

Wednesday, March 15th

5-7pm – Hunter from Abita will be joining us to host a free tasting of Strawgator, Strawberry Harvest Lager and Creole Cream Ale.

Thursday, March 16th

Celebrate IPA Day with Lexi from Deep Ellum. We will be serving free samples of Easy Peasy IPA, Deep Ellum IPA and Dream Crush.

7-9pm – This Pi Day we’re throwing a Pie Bake-Off! Come hang out, bring your best pie and the winner gets a WhichCraft Shirt & a $43.14 gift card. We’re starting at 7PM and you can start casting votes at 7:30PM. Hey, even if you don’t bake a pie, come hang out and vote for your favorite in the bake-off! We’ll be tapping rare kegs of Wicked Weed Brewing Brettaberry and Jester King Brewery Das Wunderkind for this special event!

Jolly Pumpkin La Roja du Kriek – La Roja is brewed in the Flanders tradition. They blend this beer from oak barrels where the beer has been aging for 12 months or longer. They’ve added 10 lbs. of cherries and let this beer mature for additional time in the firkin. Stone Double Bastard in the Rye – Much like the lacerative muther of a beer that is Double Bastard Ale, rye whiskey is not for everyone. Not remotely. Most are not emotionally or otherwise equipped to appreciate its unbridled intensity. So to sequester Double Bastard Ale in rye whiskey barrels is to conceive an experience that no doubt will be treasured by only a select few. 12.2% ABV / Escondido, CA / Ratebeer 99 / Availability: Decent / Mueller Only

Real Ale Pinsetter 6 Packs for $6.99 – Pinsetter Amber Lager was created in the spirit of a uniquely American style, the California Common. Originally produced in an era without the benefits of modern refrigeration, a hybrid style of lager emerged that was fermented at temperatures typically reserved for ale yeasts. The end result was a medium-bodied beer with a lager-clean malt character and a subtle fruitiness derived from its time at these warmer fermentation temperatures. 5.4% ABV / Blanco, TX / SoLa Only
