Love Is in the air!

I don’t know if I’m being foolish, I’m not too sure if it’s wise, but I’ve gotta tell y’all, we’re brewing up some fun stuff for y’all!

We’re getting things rolling this weekend with Super Bowl Sunday specials! Woot woot!!! Starting at kick off, we will have $4 pints of Saint Arnold’s Winter IPA for team Bengals & Save the World’s Belgian Pale Ale repping the Rams. They both stay at $4 till the first team makes a touchdown. After that, only the scoring team’s beer will be on special.

Come join us Monday night with your special someone, as we’ll have happy hour pricing ALL NIGHT LONG! In addition to that there will be select by the glass and bottle wine specials. Next Friday, the 18th, we have a wine tasting with Producer Concha y Toro from Chile. Join us starting at 5:30 for a special flight through some gems of their extensive offerings. Later on this month DuClaw brewing of Maryland is stopping by for a pint night on the 25th. Looking even further into the future, March should see the fine folks from Founders, Modern Times, as well as Friends & Allies dropping by the store.

Watch out hop heads, we’ve got FIVE new IPAs on draft this week! My personal stand out is Southern Star Valkyrie Double Imperial IPA. A robust & rich malty backbone gives way to an indulgent piney resinous hop finish. Looking for something a little more wild? Fair State’s SKAFL experimental IPA is where it’s at, ripe fruit tones that yield a nicely dank note. Need something more lush and juicy? SpindleTap has you covered with Diamonds In My Mouth, the full tropicana fantasy. Bubble gum bubble gum in a dish, how many Altstadt Hefes do you wish? This Esther by another name is a classic and on point option for you Hefeweizen fans. Need a lil’ something refreshing? Try the snappy Crispy by Nature lager from False Idol or tart it up and go for O’dell’s Tropical Sippin’ Pretty. For the malty members in the crowd, you weren’t overlooked this week. Two gems are coming your way- Hopewell’s Stay Frosty Winter lager & Zilker Zilkerator Doppelbock. Looks like everybody leaves the taproom happy this week.

Victory in the Vino department is certainly at hand this week. First off, Bikicki Sfera white blend is a wine I want to drink ALL. THE. TIME. This blend of 65% Traminac (aka Gewürztraminer) & 35% Sauvignon Blanc has me living an orange blossom fantasy from petal to peel. I could hang out with this wine for hours… if I could only make it last that long. Stay tuned till next week when I bring in their orange wine made from Pinot Grigio, never have you ever had something like this! We also have a great new slate of Italians hitting the shelves this week. Il Farneto is serving two takes on a Pét Nat- bianco & rosso. Unfiltered or refined, these natty gurlz will definitely get the party started. The other option from them is the Giandon red blend. He’s your hipster friend bringing the latest Criterion collection film to Wednesday’s pizza night. At first whiff you’re not sure if it’s fit for delivery, but after the initial sip you’ll only want to say buongiorno to your new favorite go-to red. Grippy tannins, solid body, and lush cherry fruit are what have me smitten with this wine.

Later, y’all.

False Idol Crispy by Nature– A Pilsner so Crispy you will be down with O.P.P. after 5%ABV

Save The World Humilus Filius–  Our Belgian style pale ale has subtle aromas of toasted malt and floral hops. It is a medium bodied ale that has a delicious balance of lightly toasted malt, a hint of fruity esters, and a slight spiciness arising from the yeast and hops with a clean, dry finish. 5.2 ABV

Altstadt Hefeweizen–  A traditional German Wheat beer. More than half of the malt used in this full-bodied brew is made up of German malted wheat. But the star of this brew is the yeast! Zilker Zilkerator Dippelbock– Have you had a Doppelbock? Let us fill you in…

With two hop additions, copious amounts of Simcoe and Centennial hops give an aroma of marmalade jam and tangerine zest masking the 9.5% ABV underneath. On the palate the beer is dry but contains enough malt character to balance the dominant flavors of ripe grapefruit and candied citrus, finishing with a slight spiciness from the Columbus hops. Clean and crisp, hoppy yet deceptively balanced: 110 IBU hop bomb than holds its own against its California brethrens.

Cut grass, green apples, and light citrus will make this quite at home in your glass.

Energy Wave takes the MC² grain bill, increases the hops, and adds a touch of lactose. Energy Wave pours a glowing hazy tangerine color, releasing bright tropical notes of mango, pineapple, lactose, and apricot. Energy Wave tastes like a succulent wave of creamy mango juice with a touch of sweet that is dangerously drinkable and balanced. 8% ABV

Equilibrium Mass X Acceleration– Mass x Acceleration, or Force, is the next in the series following Governing Forces and dC/dt that examines the basic properties of our new hardware. Mass x Acceleration is the first time we’ve blended massive doses of two of our favorite hops: Mosaic and Amarillo.

Fair State Tmave Pivo–  Tmavé Pivo is the sort of beer brewers get excited about. An obscure lager style that kinda only gets made in one place? Sign us up! Tmavé Pivo, essentially“dark beer” in Czech, is the Bohemian cousin to German Schwarzbier. Malty, round, with some dark malt flavor but none of the acrid roast character one might find in a stout, Tmavé Pivo is everything we want dark lager to be. Our version of this classic is decoction-mashed for extra malt intangibles, and is balanced out by an addition of spicy, herbal Kazbek hops. Honestly, y’all, this is the sort of beer we’d brew all the time if we could. 4.4% ABV

Bishop Mas-Mosa– Imagine you’re hanging out on a Saturday or Sunday morning [or any other morning for that matter]. Just chillin and lounging around the living room [or almost any other room or even outside]. You think, I could really go for a mimosa, yeah, a mimosa…. that’s the ticket. Anyway, now I’m getting thirsty. Many of us here at the cider factory are thinkin the same way so, what happens when that happens? We solve the problem. And here’s what the white coats did in the back room…. they pulled their collective knowledge of mimosas and then added a Texas twist. They of course started with our kickin apple base and added Texas oranges [well, not the actual oranges but the juice] and then kicked up the carbonation to mimic the true bubbly and boom, there you have it. A Mas-Mosa. Plenty of orange on the nose and bunches of carbonation and citrus from the Texas oranges. 6.7% ABV

Alaskan Stratasphere IPA–  Limited Release out of Juneau, AK made with glacial water and Alaskan wheat and Strata hops. 6% ABV

Oskar Blues Double Dale–  Double Dale’s is brewed with juicy, tropical El Dorado and complex Talus hops, keeping with the Dale’s tradition of utilizing only American hops. Fruity, piney flavors from the hops mingle with a caramel-driven malt bill, and the whole beast is supported by a new mineral-forward house blend of H2O, which includes six brewing salts. The result is a larger-than-life spin on Dale’s that’s just as packable, drinkable and recyclable as the original. 9% ABV

Oskar Blues Western Mutant IPA–  Unique hop combinations are the inevitable paths to evolution for the IPA fan. Intense hop flavor and very forward bitterness are representative of a west coast style. Nelson Sauvin and Simcoe lead the way with mango, white wine, and slight resinous pine.
