New Beers This Week

Prairie Bomb! – We got a bonus holiday shipment of Prairie Bomb! If you haven’t had this 13% beast of an imperial stout you’ve been missing out. They brew it with coffee, cocoa nibs, vanilla beans & chili peppers. Limited quantity, but we still have plenty as of this email going out. 13% ABV/Krebs, OK/Ratebeer 100

Rodenbach Caractere Rouge* – On the heels of the 2012 Rodenbach Vintage arriving last week we get to welcome another outstanding Rodenbach sour into the shop. The brewer allow the beer to macerate with fresh cherries, raspberries and cranberries. After this maceration in oak, the beer re-ferments in the bottle.  7% ABV/Roeselare, Belgium/Ratebeer 100   *Arriving Friday

Avery The Czar – One of the most anticipated Avery releases annually, The Czar has flavors reminiscent of English toffee, rich mocha, sweet molasses, candied currants and a hint of anise. This is a definite candidate to be cellared for multiple years if you can resist drinking it! This year’s batch is 8.5% ABV. Boulder, CO/Ratebeer 99

Real Ale Phoenixx Double ESB – A winter seasonal made with all English Pale & Crystal malts. Hopped with Phoenix, Kent Golding, Challenger, and Target hops in the boil and dry hopped. 7.2% ABV/Blanco, TX/Ratebeer 94

Lazy Magnolia Jefferson Sweet Potato Stout –. Jefferson Stout is brewed with sweet potatoes and lactose (milk sugar). The sweet potatoes provide the background to an impressive taste with added notes of roasted chocolate, coffee and caramel flavors. 5% ABV/Kiln, MS/Ratebeer 84

Alvinne Gaspar – Gaspar is one of the hoppiest beers in Belgium. Unfiltered, unpasteurized, bottle conditioned with a well balanced, complex hop aroma and a long lasting sparkling hop bitter finish. A tad bit of brett in the bottle brings some tartness to balance out the aggressively hopped Belgian IPA. 8% ABV/Moen, Belgium/Ratebeer 82

Sierra Nevada Nooner Pilsner – Sierra’s Nooner used to be a session IPA, but apparently they liked the name so much they stole it from themselves and started brewing a hoppy German-style pilsner and released it in 6 pack bottles.  We’ll keep you posted on whether Sierra’s German-Style Pilsner Department will be receiving a cease-and-desist letter from Sierra’s Session IPA Department. 5.2% ABV/Chico, CA/No ratings yet

New Belgium Portage –An opaque, brown pour, this beer presents with coffee and chocolate aromas, with hints of toast and smoked almonds. The taste follows suit, adding an upfront sweetness and a slight, roasty bitterness to back it up. 6% ABV/Fort Collins, CO/No ratings yet
