There are strange things happening everyday!

Well, howdy y’all. Things are dropping in your inbox a touch later than normal… I’ve found myself somewhat reflective today, searching for the right words. It genuinely shocks me that August has begun and we’re barreling through it just as we have this whole year. Perhaps it’s because I, and possibly you, am still left in a state of shock from the juxtaposition of last year’s detour to this year’s new normal?

So,  what’s that got to do with the store you ask? First off, we’ve rearranged the store to feel more open, airy, and welcoming. We want our service to be predicated on ease and graciousness. Everyone is welcome, and we all deserve good beer & wine. That’s the foundation for every interaction with every customer. Hopefully our new arrangement better helps to facilitate that.

As the world settles down from one in flux, so too has our team. We’re taking the month of August as an opportunity to dial in what we do best: bringing you the beverages you love. The goal is to elevate our service to an even higher standard as we move into the fall season. We are looking forward to bringing you more events, more beer, more wine, and more food options. It’ll be the WhichCraft you’ve come to love & enjoy, but even better!

Next Thursday and Friday we’ve got some friends stopping by the store! The fine folks from AquaBrew down in San Marcos will be in Thursday for a pint night. Then, on Friday, Austin’s own Blue Northern Seltzer will be in doing a package tasting of their portfolio. Also add Saturday, August 21st to your calendars for Owl’s Brew. It’s a Boozy Tea company from master tea sommeliers Jennie Ripps and Maria Littlefield. It’s fun. It’s new. Most importantly, it’s tasty. The rest of August is definitely going to satiate our thirst during this Texas summer heatwave.

Later, y’all.

New Wines This Week

(On-Premise Consumption or Off-Premise Crowlers)

Escandalo Semillón 2020 -Escandalo Old Vines Semillon showcases bright aromas of apples, jasmine, laurel, honey and toasted bread, that lead onto a soft and rounded palate, concluding with a long dry finish with a burst of fruit. Organic & Natural.

Escandalo began in 2013 as a project to highlight old, abandoned vineyards (60-200yo) around Colchagua, Itata, Maule, and beyond. Mauricio searches out these old plots & the work in the vineyards remains extremely traditional with no chemicals used in the vines (only organic treatments or plant and citrus extracts the farmers have used for generations) and all harvesting is done by hand.

In the cellar, everything is allowed to ferment spontaneously, and there is no fining or filtration, and only small additions of SO2 before bottling. These are honest wines with great purity and freshness, proving that these old vineyards and traditional methods are still the best way to show off the amazing viticultural history of Chile. 13.8% ABV

Prima Piuma Monferrato Rosso 2019 – A fantastic wine to pair with summer foods! The nose shows touches of pressed violets and cranberries. Well-structured and unique through the palate with ripe strawberries and silky cranberries. It’s a complex and fun wine without the complex price tag! 14% ABV

Xalera Negre 2019 – Xalera Vi Negre (Catalan for “red wine”) is composed of organically farmed Garnatxa, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon, planted at 300-350m altitude on Terra Alta’s special panal soils (silty loam with high limestone content and layers of gypsum). The grapes are de-stemmed and given a brief temperature-controlled maceration, fermented in stainless steel, and bottled early in search for tension and freshness. It is easy-drinking, food-friendly, and fun, with light, juicy berry fruit, inflected with vegetal and herbal notes. 13.5% ABV

Bass Note Blackberry Sage Sangria – Blackberry and Sage-flavored sangria. 11% ABV

Family Business Westie KolschDelicate in both mouthfeel and flavor, and brilliant in appearance. Subtle notes of white grape, fresh flowers, and pear coalesce with a crackery, cereal-like sweetness to create a clean summertime ale that’s as quaffable as they come. 4.7% ABV
Roughhouse Treeform IPATheir IPA embraces its wild yeast character with a rustic mix of floral and spicy aromas complemented by a dry, grassy, and lightly hopped flavor. 6%ABV
