WhichCraft Big Game Throwdown! Who’s Your Team?? Vote By Buying a Mixed 6 Pack.

We think we came up with a fun way to show support for your team, this being a big football weekend. We made two mixed 6 packs – one featuring beers of the colors of the Denver Broncos and one of the Carolina Panthers. Each are $12 and come with a properly colored koozie as well!

Starting now until kickoff on Sunday, every purchase of either of these 6 packs counts as one “vote” for that team. We’ll keep the tally updated on social media all weekend long so you can see how your team is doing. Support them by buying this mixed 6 pack you know you’re going to need for the game anyway!

New Beers This Week

Back in stock: Odell Lugene Chocolate Milk Stout, Upslope Oatmeal Stout, Oasis Lake Monster Double IPA, Real Ale Brewers Cut ESB, Stone Sorry Not Sorry.

Left Hand Hard Wired Nitro – The latest in the nitro bottled series from Left Hand, this nitro coffee porter builds a pillowy, toffee-sweet head. Coffee and flavors of caramelized sugar, cacao and hints of blueberry lead to a light, smoky finish. 6% ABV/Longmont, CO/No ratings yet/Availability: decent

Green Flash Cosmic Ristretto – How about this, a brand new beer from Green Flash that’s not an IPA! This will also accompany two other non-IPAs from Green Flash releasing next week. The base beer is a Baltic porter with a smooth espresso roast and drying chocolate malt provide an easy drinking texture. The candy sugar and lactose aid the body and flavor complexity with a mellow sweetness. 8.2% ABV/San Diego, CA/Ratebeer 98/Availability: plenty

Ommegang Soothsayer – A new seasonal release from Ommegang, this one is a Belgian-style dark strong ale with aromas of dark fruits and slight sweetness from the Belgian candi sugar. Flavors of plums, dark chocolate, dark cherry, blackberry and trappist yeast. 8.9% ABV/Cooperstown, NY/Ratebeer 97/Availability: decent

Karbach Kentucky Habit – The latest release from Karbach’s FUN series is a Belgian-style quadrupel aged brewed with a blend of specialty malts and cane sugar to up the ABV. A Trappist yeast for fermentation was used which lends some spicy, phenolic notes to hints of fig, caramel and raisin. This brew was aged in 72% Old Fitzgerald barrels and 28% Four Roses barrels. 11.9% ABV/Houston, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: limited

Lone Pint 667 Neighbor of the Beast – American two row malted barley and a sprinkle of Maris Otter in combination with three bold whole cone American hops make up this IPA. The hops are individually transitioned throughout the boil to highlight each hop’s bittering and flavoring characteristics. Post-fermentation, 667 is dry hopped with vast amounts of the same three hops. 6.6% ABV/Magnolia, TX/Availability: plenty

Oddwood Taming the Savage Heart – Taylor Ziebarth, since leaving his position as head brewer at Adelbert’s, is currently working on opening his own brewery on Austin’s east side. Before he left Adelbert’s, he had been aging a sour blonde ale in oak barrels at the brewery, the result of which is Taming the Savage Heart. It’s very limited and in a 750mL cork and cage bottle, and we tasted it during our tasting on Tuesday and it is simply delicious. 6.4% ABV/Austin, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: very limited

Squatters Full Suspension Pale Ale – This rich, Northwest-style Pale Ale is a rare feat of balance: unfiltered, dry-hopped to 40 IBUs, and deliciously sessionable. This is a two-time GABF Gold Medal winner (2001 and 2002 Bitter Category). 4% ABV/Salt Lake City, UT/Beer Advocate 82/Availability: decent

Saint Arnold Icon Blue Coffee Porter* – Brewed with Houston’s Java Pura, this beer is a smooth, medium bodied porter with a balance of chocolate, roast and coffee flavors. The mild sweetness is balanced by a roasty bitterness from both the combination of Bravo and Willamette hops and the coffee. 6.2% ABV/Houston, TX/No ratings yet/Availability: plenty/*Arriving Friday

Alvinne Cuvee Freddy* – A blend of the base beer for the kerasus and the alvino sours and the mano negra stout. Aged for one year on wine barrels. Blended again before bottling with 1/3 fresh Podge stout, just to soften the tannins. Aroma is full of sour fruits together with coffee, chocolate, tannines, balsamic vinegar, wood, etc. Taste is a mix of sourness with soft tannins, burnt chocolate, dry malt bitterness, and tobacco. Very complex. 8% ABV/Moen, Belgium/Ratebeer 91/Availability: plenty/*Arriving Friday

Buffalo Bayou Red Velvet Stout – Hint of cherries intermingling with a malt-forward, dark chocolate explosion. Finishing dry and savory, this beer is best enjoyed slightly chilled. 6.3% ABV/Houston, TX/Beer Advocate 84/Availability: plenty
