S Lamar Bottle Shop is Closing

WhichCraft Fans and Friends,

It is with a heavy heart that the WhichCraft family announces the closing of our S Lamar bottle shop effective September 22nd, 2018 after 4.5 years operating that location.

As you have seen with our opening and operation of the Mueller location, future WhichCrafts will incorporate draft beer and coffee into the business model, and the S Lamar real estate and city zoning unfortunately prohibits us from offering on-premise consumption at that location. After evaluating the prospects with the city and landlord, it was determined we’d only ever be able to operate a bottle shop at that location. The bottle shop-only model is not part of our future plans, as having draft beer not only gives people more reasons to visit, but also offers more choices for our customers. Having a tap room in addition to bottles cans not only makes the experience better for our customers, but also for our employees. So it made more sense to focus on that experience in Mueller since we tried and failed to change the zoning to allow for on-premise consumption.

S Lamar is where I started the company, and where I met many of our customers and fans for the first time. Your continued loyalty and patronage of a small business start-up gave me immense joy and helped through the initial struggles of a brand new business. We love being a part of the Austin beer community and the camaraderie we feel with local breweries. It saddens me to announce this closing but I thank you for your continued support as we figure out our next location(s).

It should be noted that Mueller continues to thrive for us and we will absolutely continue to operate that business as we have for close to 2 years now.

Yours in beer,

Jody Reyes
