Best Barrel-Aged Beer Bracket and Orval Day!

Tonight, Thursday 3/21, don’t miss Brooklyn as they drop by from 5-8pm to feature their Untiltered Pilsner on tap. We also have fresh cans and bottles of their Bel Air Sour and Defender IPA. Then on Saturday, 3/23, it’s time for a national holiday: Orval Day! Come in all day as we celebrate the fantastic Belgian pale ale. We’ll have plenty of bottles and plenty of Orval swag, so make sure to drop by to help us celebrate.

The NCAA Tourney is in full effect, and we are Team Runnin’ Bulldogs (which should date this newsletter pretty quickly). Make sure to spend all the tourney days at WhichCraft; we’ll have Happy Hour specials any time a tournament game is on. That’s a lot of games, and a lot of happy hours. Camp out here or make us your remote workday destination as we have live sound, games on all three TVs, and wifi. Not to mention cold beer, hot coffee, and hotter staff. Well, two out of three ain’t bad.

And speaking of tournaments, the WhichCraft Texas Tournament of Beers has begun. This year we changed it up a bit, focusing on barrel-aged beers. We have 16 beers from all around Texas, and if it spent some time in some kind of barrel, we considered it. As of this writing, our first matchup is live, and it’s a doozy: Jester King Atrial Rubicite vs. Saint Arnold Barrel-Aged Pumpkinator.

Visit this link (challonge.com/wcbbabtx) to follow along as the tournament unfolds, and be sure to stay tuned to our Twitter and Facebook pages to vote on each matchup, using both platforms to vote (yes, votes count separate on each. Chicago rules, yo). The bracket will progress roughly on the same timeline as the basketball tournament, with a new matchup happening almost every day for just over two weeks. 1st Place is a $25 Gift Card and two WhichCraft glasses, 2nd Place is two glasses, and 3rd Place is…motivation to do better next year. Remember to spread the word and sway those votes for your favorite beer with each new matchup! And use that hashtag #WhichCraftMadness.

Finally, keep buying 6pks of Martin House all March. Salty Lady, True Love, MH Pils, and Cellarman’s Reserve sixers are only $7.99!

New Beers on Draft at WhichCraft Taproom

Full Draft List Available on our Website

Buffalo Bayou Great White Buffalo – A straight-up witbier base, brewed with Sweet & Seville orange peel and Coriander. 5.8% ABV / Houston, TX

Texas Keeper Ciderweizen – Marries the underlying pear and green apple notes from the Crispin and lemon-grapefruit of the Goldrush apples to the floral and spicied notes of old world Wit Beers and German style Hefeweizens. They dry hopped and spiced the Ciderweizen with that plan in mind. Ciderweizen is unfiltered, finished with a lively effervescence, and naturally gluten free. Notes of lemon, pear, coriander, cloves, hallertau hops with lingering orange peel on the finish. 8.4% ABV / Austin, TX

Community Citra Slice – They’ve taken premium Citra hops and expertly blended them with fresh lemon & orange peel. This results in an explosively delicious citrus-forward India Pale Ale bursting with tropical flavors & aromas. 7% ABV / Dallas, TX

Cigar City Maduro – A Northern English-style brown ale with some American affectations. Maduro is higher in alcohol than the common English brown ale and features flaked oats in the malt bill which imparts a silky body and works to mesh the roasted, toasted and chocolate components together in Maduro’s complex malt profile. The end result is a remarkably full-flavored yet approachable and sessionable brown ale that pairs well with mild to medium cigars. 5.5% ABV / Tampa, FL

Paulaner Hefeweizen – Naturally cloudy and shining silky gold in the glass under a really strong head of foam. At the first mouthful this Weißbier classic has a mild aroma of banana. Finer palates detect a trace of mango and pineapple and the balance between sweet and bitter. 5.5% ABV / Munich, Germany

8th Wonder Viet-Irish Coffee – Vietnamese coffee porter aged in Jameson casks. 6% ABV / Houston, TX

Lakewood French Quarter Temptress – Imperial milk stout with chicory and barrel-aged coffee beans. 9.1% ABV / Garland, TX
